SUMMARY:Civic Assembly on Social Parenthood
DESCRIPTION:On October 19 and 20\, 2023\, the first randomly drawn Civic Assembly on Social Parenthood\, funded by the European Union and sponsored by the University of Milan (“La Statale”)\, will be held at the University of Milan. \nThe Civic Assembly on Social Parenting will be divided into two moments: \nThursday\, Oct. 19\, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: about 150 people will gather to hear the contributions of experts who\, in various capacities and with different positions\, will address the topics covered by the Assembly as part of four separate panels: assisted fertilization\, pregnancy for others\, legal recognition of children and adoptions. This will be followed by a question-and-answer and discussion phase between participants and experts;\nFriday\, Oct. 20\, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: a randomly drawn quota of participants\, divided into working tables\, will meet to compare and discuss with the help of professional facilitators\, and to develop proposals and recommendations on various issues of social parenting. The final deliberation will be adopted by the 50 randomly drawn present and also voted on remotely by the rest of the participants.\nFurther details and the program of the randomly drawn civic assembly can be found here.

SUMMARY:Congreso Carmona VIII "Mujer y Derechos Humanos". El legado de Rosario Valpuesta diez años después
DESCRIPTION:The “Carmona Movement for the feminization of Private Law” was born in the city of Carmona\, in 2009\, thanks to the initiative and impulse of Rosario Valpuesta Fernández\, Professor of Civil Law and first Rector of the University Pablo de Olavide\, in Seville\, together with other colleagues and friends\, who\, since then\, have been promoting with enthusiasm and effort the inclusion of the gender perspective in the Law and\, with it\, the generation of a powerful critical mass that allows bringing together jurists committed to the defense of women’s rights. The first meeting was held on May 7\, 8 and 9\, 2009 (“Carmona I”)\, and has been followed by “Carmona II” (Las Palmas\, 2010)\, “Carmona III” (Valladolid-Palencia\, 2014)\, “Carmona IV” (Malaga\, 2015)\, “Carmona V” (Santiago\, 2017)\, “Carmona VI” (Bilbao\, 2019) and “Carmona VII” (Palma de Mallorca\, 2022). The primary objective pursued by the “Carmona Movement” is to propose a reconstruction of private law in which\, without renouncing its own traits and characters\, all visions of personal identity are introduced\, which inevitably involves feminist values and the eradication of discrimination. \nTo continue this work\, the Pablo de Olavide University of Seville and the Carmona Movement\, together with other institutions\, will host the “Carmona VIII” to be held on November 2\, 3 and 4\, 2023 in the city of Carmona. The Congress thus returns to the original locality that saw the birth of a Movement that today is transversal\, collective and itinerant. \nOn this occasion the Congress will have as its central theme WOMEN AND HUMAN RIGHTS and it will be analyzed by prominent speakers\, both in plenary lectures and round tables\, the following thematic cores worthy of consideration in the current historical process we are living: 1. Current problems of human rights of women in an increasingly changing world. 2. Implications of human rights in private law. 3. Women and sustainable development objectives. Migrant women and human rights. \nThis year 2023 the Pablo de Olavide University of Seville has celebrated its 25th Anniversary; it is also the 10th year since the death of Professor Rosario Valpuesta. The Congress is also presented\, therefore\, as an important occasion for commemoration and reflection on “The legacy of Rosario Valpuesta ten years later”\, at the same time that we plan to provide a space for the memory of her figure and her teaching. \nDuring the conference\, our researcher\, dr Stefania Pia Perrino\, will present her selected paper on Social freezing.

DESCRIPTION:The Final Conference of the JUST PARENT project will be held on Feb. 22-24\, at the Department of Law of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Modena – 41121\, Via San Geminiano 3) \nInternational scholars of constitutional law\, private law\, civil law\, comparative public law\, comparative private law\, criminal law\, doctors\, philosophers\, and sociologists will discuss the issues of parenting.\nThe conference can be attended in person and remotely (remotely only for Feb. 22-23)\, there will also be a simultaneous translation service to make the papers in Italian usable by an international audience. \nAlso presented at this event will be the Handbook in which some of the research carried out during the project and the proposed directive elucidated to address the new challenges of parenting in cross-border relationships as well.
